Ten quiet signs you're recovering from diet culture
Recovery rarely arrives with fireworks. It shows up as small, quiet shifts you almost miss.

For years, healing from diet culture is described as a dramatic before-and-after. In reality, most of the shifts are quiet, a slower breath before dinner, a plate you don't measure, a mirror you walk past without doing math.
1. You eat when you're hungry, without negotiating. 2. You stop labelling foods as good or bad. 3. You wear the outfit you like, not the one that hides you. 4. You don't rehearse what you ate to a friend. 5. You cancel a workout and don't compensate the next day.
6. You notice diet talk in a room, and it feels foreign. 7. You have a hard day and don't blame your body. 8. You buy the clothes that fit now. 9. You eat a meal without checking the label. 10. You feel neutral about your reflection more often than not.
None of these signs are grand. All of them, together, mean you're building a life that isn't organised around shrinking.
